Continental claims 12% less rolling resistance for the 5000, 20% more puncture protection and 10% less weight and offers a smoother and more comfortable ride. Continental's patented Black Chili compound has been updated with a new formula and laser-etched tread to offer further improved cornering grip. Continental also claims a more aerodynamic clincher surface with less turbulence.

BlackChili technology never stops as it is continuously updated and is so complex and sensitive that tires with BlackChili compound can be produced exclusively in the German factory in Korbach.
Vectran Breaker
Vectran is a liquid polymer yarn, which transforms into a thermoplastic compound and multifilaments. This semi-crystalline material is harder than aramid, has five times the tensile strength of steel, and is also lighter than equivalent nylon thread. Vectran maintains its characteristics even in the most difficult weather conditions.
