EARLY Magic Lantern Slide GELERTS GRAVE BEDDGELERT C1872 VICTORIAN PHOTO WALES

A really rare early magic lantern slide of Wales of historic importance. Through research I was able to identify this as being produced by Pumphrey Brothers no later than 1872 possibly earlier making this a very early photographic image of Wales given that the birth of photography is considered to be 1839 and not widespread for some years after.

Pumphery Brothers were Birmingham photographers and magic lantern slide manufacturers. They formed in 1867 and closed in 1873.

The slide is approximately 8.2cm X 8.2cm or in inches 3.23" X 3.23" and is labelled " 27 "
