Poster urging support for President Franklin D. Roosevelt and the National Recovery Act, c. 1933. Sidney Printing Works, Cincinnati. Light marks, fold lines, and tack holes at upper corners. Pictures Roosevelt.

Passed in June 1933, the National Recovery Act was the first piece of major New Deal legislation. Businesses that participated in the program agreed to make concessions to labor and subscribe to "codes of fair competition," which were intended to reduce "destructive competition." The NRA was unanimously ruled un-Constitutional by the Supreme Court on May 27, 1935, and the program was halted by the administration. This poster, the first we have seen, was issued around the time the NRA was enacted by an ardent FDR supporter.
