History: James Fisk (b. 1 April 1835 in Pownal, Vermont – d. 7 January 1872 in New York City, New York) was a prominent stockbroker & corporate executive, and is considered one of the “Robber Barons” of the ”Gilded Age”. Fisk is best known for bringing on the Black Friday gold panic in 1869 when he, along with Jay Gould, used President Ulysses S. Grant’s name in an attempt to corner the gold market in New York City.

In this photograph, Fisk is wearing his 9th New York National Guard Infantry Regiment uniform .  

Condition: The photograph print has a few surface scratches and light soiling/wear. The mount has some wear, bumped corners, soiling and a few surface nicks. See pictures.
