BIO:
Cecil Fielder legendary MLB and Japanese baseball home run hitter. During his
career in the MLB Fielder belted 51 home runs in his 1990 season. Fielder
become the 11th player in MLB history and only the second in the previous 25
years to reach the 50 home run platea in one season. In 1989 Cecil Fielder went
to Japan to learn how to hit the curveball. He played for the Hanshin Tigers
and hit an impressive 38 home runs that season with .302 batting average. In
Japan Fielder was nicknamed "The Wild Bear" (wild, in Japan, is the
image of power; bear, for his hulking presence).and he became a hero to the
local baseball fans. During Fielders impressive career in the MLB and Japan he
was a 3x All-Star (1990, 1991, 1993), 1996 World Series Champion, 2x Silver
Slugger Award (1990, 1991), 2x AL home run leader (1990, 1991), 3x AL RBI
leader (1990--1992). In the MLB he hit 319 career home runs playing for the
legendary Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees. He is the father of Prince Fielder,
who similarly established himself as a premier power hitter during his career.
The Fielders are the only father and son to both have 50-home run seasons in
MLB history, and were the only father-son duo to have 40-home run seasons until
2021, when they were joined by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and his own father.
