The Black Pearl 82 is a slightly narrower version of the runaway best selling Black Pearl 88.  It is almost exactly the same construction, and has very similar sidecut geometry (shape), rocker profile, and the same turn radius.  So, it feels the same turn feel on the snow as the BP88, BUT because of its narrower shape, it is a little bit more groomer friendly, and it is an extremely good value as well.

The Blizzard Black Pearl has been one of the best selling ladies' skis on the market, and with the addition of this new model, Black Pearl choices have gotten even better.  With its pedigree as one of very best All Day, Every Day ladies' skis available on the market, and a perennial magazine test favorite, Blizzard set out to raise the bar even higher.  This new, narrower version is all about quicker turning and better performance on trail.  Starting with the 88 version, the width of this BP 82 has been narrowed 6mm down the entire length of the ski.  This new shape is easier and quicker to move from turn to turn, and also easier to turn the ski tighter when you need it to.  Other than that change, this new BP 82 is identical to its slightly wider sibling in this Black Pearl group.  Its unique combination of width, rocker profile, and lady specific Flip Core technology, make it very, very difficult to have a bad day on this ski.  If you are looking for the one ski quiver, perfect all mountain ski, most versatile, (we like to call it an All Day, Every Day ski), or whatever its label, this is the one!

This Black Pearl 82 includes Blizzard's lady specific Lite Core construction.  Eco friendly light weight Bamboo laminates are mixed with even lighter isocore material inside the ski.  The result is a ski that weighs less, and has a lower swing weight, but is still very stable and super smooth.  ABS sidewalls further enhance the performance of this ski by providing a suspension system for the edges, and also by increasing torsional (twisting) stiffness.

This Black Pearl 82 also includes FlipCore, a Blizzard exclusive technology that is really quite simple in its concept.  By turning the camber profiled, milled core upside down when the ski is assembled in the mold, the wood isocore stores more energy, and rebound from turn to turn is improved.  Skis with laminate wood core construction are always very smooth, very stable, and offer outstanding edge hold on hard snow.  But, the downside to them is that they are deader on the snow, with a bit less rebound from turn to turn.  Flip Core breaks this paradox, allowing a laminate ski to be much livelier from turn to turn.  Flip Core is truly unique, and you will love the personality it brings to your new skis.

And now Flip Core incorporates carbon fiber, making it even better.  Blizzard's unique Carbon FlipCore adds layers of graphite at the tip and tail, replacing the heavier fiberglass used in previous models.  The addition of carbon graphite component lessens the weight of the ski's rockered tip and tail sections, making it more stable at speed, and giving the ski a lighter, livelier feel on the snow.  CARBON FLIPCORE MAKES A GOOD SKI WAY, WAY BETTER!

We have this ski matched up the new Tyrolia AM12 binding.  This model from Tyrolia has everything a performance lady skier wants in a binding at a great price.  High performance toe and heel comes from Tyrolia's classic race inspired components.  The AM 12 is super easy to get in and out of, even in deeper snow, and offers outstanding control of the ski.  This binding is compatible with standard Alpine boot soles, but also with the newer Grip Walk boots that are available as well.

Check out the features of the Tyrolia AM 12 Diagonal binding:

  • Tyrolia Lite Diagonal TRP Toe - can release in any direction from horizontal to vertical.  Offers very good protection in combined twisting falls.  Light in weight, with a good firm link between boot toe and ski.  Four roller bearings built into the very wide wings in contact with the boot toe minimize friction as the boot toe moves laterally to filter out vibrations, and also provide a low friction interface when the boot needs to release from the system.

  • AM toe piece can be adjusted to fit either standard Alpine boot soles, or new Grip Walk boots, which are designed to make walking ski boots easier.  You probably do not own a Grip Walk boot now, but your next boots are likely to be equpped with that new sole shape.
  • Integrated mechanical Anti-Friction Device (AFD) provides consistent lateral release with a DIN boot sole.  This AFD under the boot toe is super durable, and offers outstanding contact between the boot sole and ski, even as the boot is moving side to side to absorb high energy shocks.  There is no Teflon piece under the boot toe to wear out, or get compromised with dirt, degrading the ability of the binding to release the boot.

  • Diagonal releasing heel is a proprietary Tyrolia feature.  Like other binding designs, this heel can release straight up.  But, unlike every other heel on the market, it can also release in a 45 degree diagonal direction as the boot moves vertically when it is releasing from the ski.  If for some reason, in a forward fall combined with twisting force, the Diagonal heel can relieve this twisting force if the toe cannot (such as when one ski is trapped under another, or under an obstacle)

  • Easy Step in Heel design  makes this the easiest binding in this category to step into, and one of the most durable bindings money can buy.  Nothing is more frustrating than having a difficult time getting back into bindings after a yard sole on steep terrain.  This heel design is proven to be super durable, and suepr easy to get into (and out of).  There is simply no easier binding to use, and it performs great as well.
    • This binding has a DIN range of 3 to 12, and will work for any skier with a DIN setting of 4 or higher.

Take advantage of our premount service for only $29.00.  We will premount the bindings to your boot sole length, hand tune the tips and tails, and wax the bases.  Once you receive your new skis simply take them to a certified technician to have the bindings final adjusted to your exact boot, and have the DIN release setting adjusted to your personal specs.  Choosing this service will save you time and hassle, and likely some expense as well.  Just, tell us in the comment box (or a separate email) that you want the premount service, and the length of your boot sole in mm.  You can include the extra amount for the premount when you pay via PayPal.  Or, email us and we will add the premount service for you before you pay.
