Cover honors USNS Wheeling a former WW II merchant Victory Ship named for

Seton-Hall College. The proud new ship was launched on May 22, 1945 as SS Seton-Hall Victory

at Portland, OR by Oregon Shipbuilding Corp,

The vessel transported vital supplies to US and Allied Forces overseas during WW II.

After the war she was laid-up in reserve, until 1962 when she was acquired by the US Navy and

converted into a Missile Range Instrumentation Ship in San Francisco. With a civilian crew she

made patrols in the Central Pacific supporting the NASA Space Program. She was out of service in the 1970s

and sunk as a target in 1981. See her web pages for the details of her design, construction
