Marked with the impressed numbers 11 and the written numbers 4178/71, we have had many square oyster plates like this with the Marx & Gutherz makers mark circa 1876-1889. This one may be even older.
This antique oyster plate is in a square shaped form.
It features five wells for oysters and a center well for lemon or sauce, very pretty, trimmed in gold with a pink color inside.
The scalloped Light Yellow rim is decorated with pink, white and red flowers and green and teal leaves.
It is in excellent antique condition with no chips or cracks.
There is some light wear and a small dot from manufacturing which is normal and expected for an item this old.
It measures 8.75 x 9 inches square.
