GEVORG AVAGYAN (1922-2013), well listed Armenian artist, born in Alexandrapol, studied art at Yerevan's Art College from 1938 till 1941, afterwards joined the army at World War II, only to graduate from The Art & Theatric Institute in 1955. A Soviet realist and historic theme painter, some of his paintings decorate the cultural club in Etchmiadzin, in Ashtarak and in Artashat (in Armenia), others are spread in the State Museums of the Former Soviet Union.
