The Excalibur Paperweight and Letter Opener was designed by legendary Steuben artist James Houston in 1963.

Here, Excalibur is formed by solid sterling silver featuring a hilt wrapped in 18 karat gold, resting in a faceted crystal paperweight representing the stone from which King Arthur pulled the famed sword in ancient legend. The Sword was an award given to W. Thacher Longstreth a Philadelphia Councilman who ran for Mayor against Frank Rizzo.  W. Thacher Longstreth was also an Author and Lawyer. This award was given by the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce. There are small chips on the crystal stone where the sword enters the stone. Also writing on the sword itself. This is a one of a kind peace of Philadelphia history .
