SS EL SALVADOR VICTORY Memorial WW II Victory Ship cover with postmark

from Duarte, CA dated Feb 23, 2012. Color photo printed cachet #3010 of

underway Victory Ship by Alvin Eckert USCS #9964. The merchant cargo

ship was built by Oregon Shipbuilding Corp. at Portland, OR. and launched on April 1,

1944. The proud new vessel transported vital supplies to overseas US and

Allied Forces during WW II.

The ship was named for the Republic of El Salvador and was part of a group

of 32 Victory Ships that were named for Allied Nations in WW II. Cover franked

with forever Merchant Marine stamp # 4550, and a 6 cent Hemisfair stamp #1340.

The cover was prepared on a un-gummed, archive quality envelope.
