"Prestige Series 3" is the entry series of the 3rd generation GRADO phono cartridge. Numerous technologies cultivated through the development of GRADO's top-of-the-line series "Lineage" are applied to all "Prestige Series 3" models. The entire process is carried out by hand by skilled workers at our main factory in Brooklyn, N.Y.
During the production process of "Black 3", 15% of the products that passed the stricter quality inspection became the higher-end model "Green 3", and 10% that were similarly selected from "Blue 3" became "Red 3". "Gold3" has passed an even stricter quality inspection of 5% compared to "Silver".
OTL cantilever
The OTL (Optimized Transmission Line) cantilever, which enables ideal signal transmission from the record groove to the power generation system inside the cartridge, eliminates unnecessary resonance and suppresses noise generated within the circuit. The cantilever, which has a unique artificial diamond mounted on a brass bushing, consists of 4 pieces for Gold3/Silver3 and Red3/Blue3, and 3 pieces for Green3/Black3. A vast soundstage brings out every detail in your music.
4-coil unison with advanced coil winding technology
Advanced coil winding technology using ultra-high purity copper wire enables precise harmonization between the four coils to achieve optimal L/R balance while minimizing distortion. Accurate stereo imaging maximizes the reproduction of vocals and instruments.
twin magnet system
The twin magnet system, which works with 4-coil unison to optimize the balance between L and R and achieve an accurate stereo image, maximizes its effectiveness by assembling the internal magnetic circuit parts with high precision.
FLUX-BRIDGER design
The FLUX-BRIDGER design minimizes the effective mass of the drive unit in the power generation system, achieving excellent sound balance in all bands.
Housing design reduces distortion
A unique design method that uses the housing itself as a vibration damping device suppresses unnecessary energy and resonance.
*MI (moving iron) type cartridge
Unlike the MC (moving coil) type and MM (moving magnet) type, the MI type generates electricity by moving a magnetic metal mounted on a cantilever, and is considered a derivative of the MM type. By reducing the weight of the drive part in power generation, it enables excellent transient characteristics and wide range playback.
