I am continuing the long process of selling off folk art, textiles, and books from three different collector estates. Due to the volume of items, my descriptions are shorter that usual, but my commitment to accurately representing everything that I sell remains. Please review all of the photos before bidding. If you have any questions about any of the items for sale, please don't hesitate to contact me and I'll be more than happy to answer in more detail directly.

This auction is for a traditional woman's garment from Uzbekistan called a paranja, which was worn over the head with the vestigial sleeves hanging down the back as shown in the last photo (sample image taken from online). The interior is lined with ikat atlas fabric that has been very popular in fashion and design though out the centuries. There is hand embroidery all along the edges and various accents, tassels and embellishments. The exterior of the paranja is made of a moire cotton atlas fabric. There is overall discoloration and stains as shown in the photos, but the garment is structurally sound. Cleaning should be discussed with a dry cleaner. Dates to the second half of the 20th century. These are not especially rare, but it's nice to find one with such vibrant ikat lining, which is becoming significantly harder to find. A great deal!
