A multitude of strikes were required to remove many tiny flakes of flint to create the arrowheads shape and its 'rippled' appearance. A lot of someone's time and effort was required to craft this piece. Barbed arrowheads were carefully designed. Once the point had pierced the flesh, the barbs meant that the arrowhead would not fall out.
