"FLEUR DES SOLEILS", 1987  SIGNED ORIGINAL LIMITED EDITION COLOR SERIGRAPH PRINT BY THE AMERICAN PAINTER AND PRINTMAKER LOUIS OCEPEK (b.1942) 

This limited edition geometric floral still life color serigraph (silkscreen print) is by the American artist, designer and master printmaker Louis Ocepek. 

Printed in a very small edition of only 8 prints, this rare early serigraph is an exceptional example of the artist’s work. The serigraph is pencil signed and dated by the artist in the margin below the image lower right: LOUIS OCEPEK 1987, numbered and titled in the margin below the image lower left: 3/8 “FLEUR DES SOLEILS”. 

The image size measures 34 x 19 inches. Printed on wove paper, the sheet with full margins measures 38 x 23 inches. The serigraph comes unframed. 

PLEASE NOTE CONDITION: The serigraph is in excellent condition, with no evidence of any damage to the image. 

Louis Ocepek, artist, graphic designer and professor, was born in Detroit and studied design and fine arts at Wayne State University. Following his graduation in 1964, he attended graduate classes at the Art Institute of Chicago and later the University of Iowa. He began his teaching career in 1967 at Montana State University. In 1971 he accepted a position at Portland State University teaching graphic design and screen printing. 

Ocepek became a professor at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces in 1985, establishing a flourishing graphic design program, as well as teaching printmaking and other fine art courses. He assisted in establishing the graduate program and served as Department Head for six years. Ocepek was awarded the Westhafer Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2000. 

He is a dedicated studio artist, working in a variety of media, exhibiting regularly in group and solo exhibitions throughout the country, including solo exhibitions at the Portland  Art Museum and the El Paso Museum of Art. His work is included in the public art collections of Oregon, Washington, Texas and New Mexico.  

Ocepek’s design work has been included in many publications and exhibitions, including Graphis International and Graphis International Posters, Zurich, Switzerland, the New York Society of Illustrators, and the International Exhibition of Poster Art in Brno, Czechoslovakia. In 2002, his book, Graphic Design: Vision, Process, Product was published by Prentice Hall Incorporated. 

In 2021 Ocepek’s solo exhibition titled NexusNew Work brought drawing, painting and digital imagery together as limited edition prints.

3. I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REMOVE GLASS FROM FRAMED ARTWORK TO PREVENT ARTWORK FROM GETTING DAMAGED DURING SHIPPING. HOWEVER, PLEASE NOTE, WITH SMALLER FRAMED ARTWORK I WILL PLACE TAPE ALL OVER THE GLASS FOR PROTECTION.
4. BUYERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SHIPPING, HANDLING, INSURANCE, AND INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMS FEES!
   

Shipping prices quoted include packaging in corrugated box with bubble wrap and/or peanuts. For larger or expensive works of art a crate may be ordered. Insurance is required on all art shipments. Buyers pay for insured shipping. I do not ship my items for free. I prefer shipping items via USPS PRIORITY MAIL but with larger items I will ship via UPS.  

I will try my best to keep the shipping costs to a minimum, however, please be aware that I am concerned with using the correct materials for proper packaging of the artwork so that it will arrive safe & sound.
