For PARTS or Repair 2 SONY ICF-SW7600 Shortwave Receiver Portable Radio 1 w/Box

---  2 radios, the nicer one was in the box and the other one with the dented speaker grille/broken antenna and more display scratches  (one boxed but the spool antenna and power adapter are missing).

--- Both radios exhibit similar behavior (someone unfamiliar might consider these working), my local FM station barely tunes in and fades into and out to static and sometimes a neighboring frequency (the local station should tune crystal clear without an antenna).  They do tune in stations on FM but not clearly and sporadically fade to static etc (and it seems the frequencies are not correct for the stations). So to summarize the FM band is not useable.

--- When I got the nicer boxed unit I had played around in the evenings looking for SW stations (I live in the Pacific Northwest which doesn't have good SW reception), I would go through some of the bands and come across broadcasts (nothing really strong or clear, always some static, but even in the past with other SW receivers I never really received clearly at my location, so I can't say for sure if the SW bands are receiving properly).  The other radio I probably did also try looking for SW but the antenna is broken (I was only able to extend it one section, it has shaft dents, the place where it's broken looks like the base of the 3rd section), so with that antenna I doubt I spent much time with it and it's been a few years so I just don't remember in terms of the SW reception.

--- I just did however check the AM broadcast band on that beat up radio and was able to tune in a few local stations clearly.

--- Over the years I've had many examples of this radio and I never had problems, this model has reached the age all electronics with electrolytic caps will face, they will start failing and need re-capping.

--- Assume these both need to re-capped for reliable performance on ANY BAND (I don't have a good working SW of any kind to even compare the signals I was able to catch).

--- Battery compartments and contacts are good, as are the compartment covers, the foam on the covers is gone (deteriorated).

--- The clear display cover on the nicer one does have some light fine wear/scratches/scuffs (the other one is pretty scratched up).

--- On both of these, when I was first trying to tune FM I tried DX vs local (which did change the audio), also the audio type etc, also on the SW bands always checking LSB and USB if and when I had found a signal (on the nicer one).

--- The instruction booklet for the boxed radio is discolored and stained, and shows a lot of wear as does the Wave Handbook.  Box is intact, the lid and bottom have a lot of surface wear.  The box interior has an intact foam insert as well as the molded plastic interior packing tray.  The soft case looks unused.  Will be properly packed to preserve condition.
