Combe, a member of the Rhodesian Mounted Police, arrived in Capetown after the Great War. Besides his law enforcement duties, he managed to find time to hunt buffalo, rhinoceros, hippopotamus and antelope in the border country between Rhodesia and Portuguese East Africa.
