1756 Solid Silver Georgian Table Salts.

Full English Hallmarks for David Hennell I, London, 1756. A most sought after and highly collectable silversmith.

Lovely pair of Cauldon shape salts with a gadrooned rim, each standing straight on three good decorative legs with shell design where they meet the body and padded feet. Parcel gilt lined bowls.

In superb pre-loved and used antique condition. There is some wear/grazing to the inner parcel gilt lining likely due to salt spoons and salt corrosion. There is a pin head size ding to one on the most bulbous part of the body between two legs and a similar smaller ding to the other salt around the same place, just a little higher up the body. These are very small and barely noticeable unless closely inspecting. There are no repairs, no splits or tears and no nasty misshaping.

Considering these are almost 270 years old, their wear is much less than “commensurate with age”.

A stunning pair as a stand alone purchase or to add to any collection.

Measurements approximately:

Height: 4.5cm (1.3/4”)

Diameter of the tops: 6.5cm (2.1/2”)

Weight: 142.21g

I have given them a quick wipe over, but as with all my items I don't over clean or polish. There may be the odd age related wear/mark commensurate with age, anything of note is listed above.
