From the North East coast of England

A perfectly formed hag stone that I found whilst  beach combing.

It is approx 3cm, weighs 6g and is perfectly smooth with a  pleasingly placed hole.

It is great for making a necklace with.

I will send with  Royal Mail.

In Mythology a 'Hag' Stone was a stone which

has a hole through it caused by running water,

either by river or Sea. Running water was believed to be insusceptible to magic,

hence the ritual of cleansing them under running water.

Hag Stones were used as protective Talismans. Dorset Fishermen used them as

protective charms against evil spirits also when changing the name of a boat.

One stone was hung for every letter they were changing and left for a year on the boat.
