1950's Valentinos Charalambous Studio Pottery Vase. A world renowned artist who studied at the Central School of Arts & Crafts in London and under Bernard Leach in St Ives. 

 

Right....Condition...From top to bottom:-At the top rim three is ( 7mm) stress crack on the outside which doesn't transfer to the inside of the piece. There is discolouration to the main body, which predominantly affects the black oxide decoration. It also has some scratches to the  body of the said item, whitening and sun bleaching to the same.Two shallow scallop chips both about (8 mm) and the occasional flea-bites to the same.The overall body is sound and in good order. ( please study photos!)It is my opinion that this was originally and always made as a lamp base/vase due to the smooth pierced cable hole (rather than drilled) and its period cork, light fitting and cable which was definatly period and unsafe. ***But again please study my extensive photographs for confirmation of all this!***

Length :- 5.2 cm Diameter at neck rim, 6.5 cm, Diameter at the base rim.

Width :- 13 cm. Diameter at the widest point.

Weight :- 600 grams.
