Nice Drake R-4C Ham Radio HF Bands Communications Receiver w/CW Filters & 4-NB
This loaded radio is a well-maintained Drake R-4C HF AM, CW, SSB Receiver. It includes blue LED upgrade, both CW filters (500 & 250 hertz), 4-NB Noise Blanker, manual, and five additional band crystals. We just received this radio, and signals were heard right from the start. It came to life as we brought it up on the variac. On our little test antenna (15' of wire on the wall) we heard QSO's and FT-8 on 20 meters. The radio has two optional and working crystal filters. The crystal filters are 500 Hertz and 250 Hertz CW filters. Both filters worked well on CW stations on 20 meters. Additional band crystals are included for five more band segments. These were not tested as I am not experienced with this receiver. This one should clean up well, align and be an outstanding performer. The matching MS-4 speaker is not included but is listed in a separate auction. As always, vintage gear should have the tubes tested, replaced as necessary, and an alignment. The R.L. Drake Company produced the R-4C as the final refinement of their previous popular R-4, R-4A and R-4B models. The R-4C covers: 3.5-4, 7-7.5, 14-14.5, 21-21.5 and 28.5-29 MHz plus fifteen additional 500 kHz crystal positions (with optional crystals). Modes of reception include: SSB, CW, AM and RTTY. The dial accuracy is and impressive ±1 kHz. Features include: PBT, Line out, Crystal Calibrator (25 kHz), RF Gain, Mute Jack, Speaker Jack, Anti-Vox Jack, ¼ inch headphone jack, Dial Lamp and Spinner Knob. This radio requires an external speaker.

1. The pictures provided in the auction are the actual pictures of the item being auctioned. 2. Prior to sale, all Items are stored in a climate-controlled & smoke free storage facility in south-central (dry) Texas. Most items are treated to remove odors, some dust/dirt, residue and bacteria/virus. Detailed cleaning, alignment, firmware upgrade, modification removal and maintenance is left to the new owner.
3. Vintage items are frequently listed for Parts or Not Working. These items will normally need some form of repair, alignment and/or cleaning. These items when jostled in shipping may exhibit operational problems that were not present when tested on our workbench.

8. Vintage electronics items are frequently repainted, and the quality and condition may vary from the original finish. Items may have been in a smoking environment at some point in their history.
a. Modifications and non-original parts may be installed in this equipment.
b. Battery powered equipment may have had battery leaks/issues in the past. HT batteries are normally the vintage of the radio and should be expected to perform as age appropriate, i.e., less capacity than new. Removeable batteries, Built-in chargers, power supplies and CMOS (memory batteries) are untested & unwarranted. A replacement battery may be required to meet user expectations.
c. Consider all items to be used and show signs of use. This may include scratches, wear, chips, cracks, corrosion and dust. In order to meet your full expectations these items may need tune up, cleaning, replacement batteries (internal & external), indicator or meter lights, accessory items, vacuum tubes, dial cords, cables & other accessories, manuals and/or instructions and other minor items/adjustments/repair/parts.
d. Basic functions are tested, where possible, but not all functions are tested. Basic functions are detailed in the description above and are the only warranted functions of this item.
e. Hams will be hams - Prior owners may have performed mods, updates or repairs that were not noticed or described.
f. Computer connectivity (Rig control, D-Star, C4FM, DMR etc.) is untested and unwarranted due to the differing software required for internet capable products. Frequently on applicable electronics, the new owner will need to perform required software upgrade(s).
g. Potiometers are notorious for being noisy and scratchy sounding even when cleaned prior to shipment - they may require additional cleaning by the buyer.
