This profusely illustrated monograph traces the history of the flintlock pistol from the time of its introduction in the sixteen century until its eventual redundancy in the nineteenth century. . . . Further illustrations show special points of detail, and there are diagrams to explain the lock mechanism and how the pistol worked. The author includes advice on collecting, guidance in dating and, additionally, a bibliography and list of public collections exhibiting flintlock pistols.
