Out of print 1996 Koch Schwann CD of three oboe quartets and two oboe quintets of French late-Classical composers, played by Quatuor Altair with oboist Jean Pierre Arnaud. The largest, and for me most gratifying, piece is the Grand Quintetto Concertante of Rodolphe Kreutzer (1766 - 1831), the dedicatee of Beethoven's sonata. An elaborate, modulation-filled Allegro is followed by a slow but dancelike Andante, then an oddly out-of-scale final Allegro lasting only 1'50. There's also a lot of invention in the quartet l'Art de la Modulation of Francois Andre Danican Philidor (1726 - 1795), which actually sounds like an updating of a Baroque suite. The remaining works are quartets of Genaro Rava and Carl Joseph Toeschi (1731 - 1788), and the quintet of Joseph Francois Garnier (1755 - 1825).

Disc, booklet, and case are in mint condition.

About Jimmosk's CDs
I sell high-quality, little-known works, mostly 19th- and 20th-century. Many of the CDs are used, some are still-sealed, and most are the only one of that disc I have to offer. I sell a low volume of CDs, but that way I can listen to each (except the sealed ones :-) and describe the music to give you a better idea of what you're in for before you plunge into the unknown!
