He made his acting debut in 2010, appearing on the television series, The Pillars of the Earth. He continued to appear in movies and film. In 2010, he was cast as Phillip Swift in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. He also appeared as Jack in the BBC TV series, White Heat, and as William in Snow White and the Huntsman. In 2012, Sam was cast as Finnick Odair in the Hunger Games film series, starting with The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. He reprised the role for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and Part 2. He will also reprise the role of William in The Huntsman, the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman, scheduled to be released in 2016
