This sale is for a vintage hardback edition entitled “The Cricketer’s Companion,” edited by Alan Ross, with illustrations, including an illustrated double-title page and pictorial endpapers.

 

It was published by Eyre & Spottiswoode, of London, and is the 1961 third impression of the September 8^th, 1960, FIRST EDITION.

 

The contents include:

 

·       Part I: Cricket Stories (15 Chapters)

·       Part II: Great Matches (6 Chapters)

·       Part III: Great Players (17 Chapters)

·       Part IV: Men and Moments (11 Chapters)

·       Part V: The Poetry of Cricket (67 Poems)

 

The book measures 8.1 inches x 5.5 inches x 1.6 inches thick! and has 548 pages. 

 

The book is in good, neat condition for its age, with wear/bumps and tears to the edge of the original dust-jacket (not price-clipped – it cost 25s net at the time!), with a little light foxing to the rims. There are NO inscriptions/book-plates and NO other ink or pencil markings in the book.  The binding is good with no loose or missing pages.

 

A wonderful, illustrated vintage edition.
