This sweet little survivor from the 1880's has criss-cross/lapped construction in pine with wooden pegs and nail construction and features 22 inlaid walnut (cigar box mahogany?) diamonds under a thin, dry layer of original varnish.  Measuring 13 1/4" x 11 3/8" overall with 8 7/16" x 6 5/8" reveal and 9" x 7" back opening, it is sturdy and usable (some wiggle at the joints but not loose) with expected edge wear and a chip lower left as pictured.
