Jamie Lee Curtis hosts and Landis directs this homage to classic sci fi and horror Universal released up into the early 80s. Filming the hosted segments include a very entertaining trip to the house from Psycho on the Universal Backlot where Curtis’s mom starred in the 60s. The trailers come from a time when movie ads themselves were an art form in their own right with filmmakers like Alfred Hitchcock would film specially shot segments (starring Hitchcock himself in his case) made just for the theatrical trailer. This also is a terrific look at Universal Studios itself in the 1989s and at Hollywood when CGI didn’t rule the screen. Very nostalgic as a charming 24 year old Jamie Lee Curtis introduces clips of some of the great universal horror films. It also includes a promotional look at “upcoming” Universal Horror Sci Fi and Horror films including JAWS 3D, VIDEODROME, HALLOWEEN 3 and a special extended look at Steven Spielberg’s E.T.
