Description
Witty Brothers was a small chain of higher end stores that survived the Great Depression by maintaining their high standards. You can read about the last of the Witty Brothers here (there were once four)

This jacket is usefully sized (40R) and dated (1960). 1960 was probably the peak of extremely strait-laced men's fashion coats with three buttons and narrow lapels, and fabrics in monochrome distinguished by pattern rather than color, and often in new 'miracle' fabrics like this poly-wool blend that you can wash in the sink if you are travelling.
The sizing is generous, more comparable to a contemporary 42, so please check measurements against a jacket that fits you well.

A NOTE ON MEASUREMENTS: Measurements are done by hand, as accurately as possible. They may or may not correspond to label sizes, as garments may shrink, or be mislabeled or altered. Sleeve length is figured by halving shoulder measure and adding arm measure. Ebay size classifications are approximate, and the measurements of a particular size may vary from maker to maker or model to model. FOR THE BEST EBAY EXPERIENCE, compare my measurements to those of a garment that fits you.
