Beautiful Petite Victorian Gold Ormolu French Wire & Pierced Brass Pocket Watch Stand

A Beautiful One-of-a-Kind Petite Victorian Gold Ormolu French Wire & Pierced Brass Pocket Watch Stand or Casket, circa 1850-1880.  This is a wonderfully crafted Victorian Era pocket watch stand from Napolean III period in France, and offers so many features.  (Note: Ladies Pocket Watch Not Included).

In the front is an arched-top thick beveled glass drop-down door.  The expertly cut beveled glass is held in place with a gilt egg & dart frame. The gold ormolu French Wire adorns the top of the opening with a trio of decorative loops.  Along the sides the French wire curls down to form the supporting front and back legs.  The sides are covered with ornamental pierced & stamped brass.  The inside back wall, made of tin, is covered with a ruffled beige satin silk liner.  Near the top is a gilt hook for hanging a Lady’s Pocket Watch.

The Lovely Watch Stand or Casket measures approx. 4-1/2" high by 3" across by 1-1/4” deep.  The interior opening measures 2-1/2” high by 2” wide (at its widest point) by 7/8” deep.

It's a Rare Work of Victorian Art that you’ll never find anywhere else!  The thick beveled glass has no cracks or chips and fits perfectly into the opening.  Overall Condition, commensurate with its age of 150+ years and its use over that time, is VG+ to Excellent Condition.
