BRITISH SEAPLANES TRIUMPH IN THE INTERNATIONAL
SCHNEIDER TROPHY CONTEST 1913-1931

ELLISON HAWKS

REAL PHOTOGRAPHS CO. LTD
1945

First edition.
A well illustrated history of the famous air race.

The Schneider Trophy story is a fascinating account of mans relentless quest for speed and British achievement in aviation. Supermen of the age were the pilots: Biard, Kinhead, Stainforth, Doolittle, De Bernardi, Dal Molin and Agello in their S4, S.5, S.6, M.52, R3C-2, and MC72 machines, to name but a few. These names are inseparable from speed and the romanticism surrounding the contests. Indeed many gave their lives for speed. We owe a great deal to the aviation pioneers who's foresight and determination to progress was fostered by the Schneider Trophy.
