This watercolour by Kenneth McDonough shows Croydon airport. It captures the exciting spirit of air travel in the 1920's, when the advent of both passenger travel and air mail started to shrink the world. London's first airport is depicted in this busy scene where newly arrived passengers disembark from a Brequet 280 and mingle with postmen and engineers. A Pilot can be seen approaching an Air Union Leo 'Golden Ray' which is being loaded up, ready for departure to the continent. Above, on the balcony, the public looks on upon this cosmopolitan scene, while the clouds swirl menacingly above. The picture marks the important milestone in the development of international transport and is a fitting tribute to "those magnificent men in their flying machines".

Made in England by Falcon Games Ltd (ref no. 3111) the puzzle is undated but I would say 1970s as there is no bar code on the box and Falcon where purchased by Jumbo who moved production to the Netherlands.
