Periodically we experience problems with our scanner. Today is one of those days. Depending upon which view you choose, the first scan will show horizontal lines and/or cross hatching marks. Rest assured, these are not on the card itself. Usually scanning problems are confined to color pictures but today it's "advanced" to black and white! (You will note that the second scan (reverse side of the card) exhibits none of these problems.) For the Baseball Hobbyist . . . The Sporting News Charles Martin Conlon #27 - Fred Merkle, 1916 Brooklyn Dodgers 1B 4x5-inch Limited Edition Card From the early days of the dawning of the 20th century, the photographic artistry of Charles Martin Conlon was featured in baseball guides, daily newspapers, monthly magazines and, of course, The Sporting News - then America's Base Ball paper of record. Conlon's work also appeared on baseball cards. After a 60-year absence from that medium, in 1981 The Sporting News created a 100-card set from original Conlon glass negatives. Issued in classic sepia, this is one of those cards. Card size is 4 by 5 inches (4X5). Cards of this size fit best in either 3-pocket sheets designed for cards up to 4" X 6" or standard 2-pocket pages constructed for 5" X 7" photos and cards. Condition: Very Good/Excellent (stained upper right/back) - check the high-resolution scan; a blue background has been provided to assist in evaluating card corners and edges. Shipping OPTIONS are available - YOUR CHOICE of either eBay standard envelope service (ESE) which is cheaper with slower delivery or USPS Ground Advantage (more costly for single cards but much faster delivery). We also offer UNLIMITED singles (up to and including 8X10 inches in size) shipped via Ground Advantage for the one card rate. Both services include insurance but USPS Ground Advantage is considerably quicker, with fewer limitations. _______________________ Important: Shipping Information A goal has always been to keep shipping costs low. Our primary objective is to sell cards and other things of interest to baseball hobbyists - not make money by overcharging on shipping. If you ever believe you are being overcharged on shipping, please email us and we will double-check the facts of the matter. Thank you!
