Charming Period Portrait of a Military Gentleman

French Second Empire 1849

 

An endearing portrait of a gentleman sporting military uniform of the mid 19th Century era. A charming period piece signed somewhat indistinctly "Raviret 1849".

Age- 1849

Size- 20 by 16.5 inches approx including frame, canvas 13.75 by 10.5 inches 

Medium- Oils on canvas. 

Frame- Antique wooden frame, some knocks and losses, offered free with the painting.

Condition- Generally good for its age, we would be very happy to hang this one as found. Some craqueleur and knocks in places, very small holes to the gentleman's top lip and alos top middle. Some thinner piant areas and a little browning visible. 

Signature- Lower right.
