Up for auction is a vintage woven straw purse with a long gilt-metal strap "Made in Italy" by "Fiona," as indicated by two labels sewn onto the paisley-patterned lining within. My guess is the purse dates from around the 1960s or 1970s, but I'm not an expert on women's accessories and I can't say this with 100% certainty.

The purse measures about 8 inches wide by 7 inches high, and the chain strap is about 42 inches long. It is made of multicolored woven straw alternating in vertical and horizontal squares. The colors of the straw are white and yellow (the predominant hues) as well as red, royal blue, deep purple, orange, Kelly green, and fuchsia or shocking pink.

The overall condition of this vintage purse is very good. There's no spotting, staining, tears, fraying, or any other damage or flaws seen inside or out. The gilt-plated (possibly gold-filled?) metal chain and closures / hardware is shiny and not at all rubbed or damaged. The white zipper on the pouch inside is in excellent working order. The purse has neither a musty nor smoky odor.

 

This lovely vintage Fiona purse is being sold AS IS, AS DESCRIBED ABOVE AND PICTURED WITHIN. I am setting what I feel is a reasonable starting price for the auction, and there is NO RESERVE. I am also including a Buy It Now price.

 

Shipping and handling for the Fiona bag / purse, which will be sent in a cardboard box: $CALCULATED to U.S. addresses (via either USPS Ground Advantage or Priority Mail, whatever you choose). 

 

Note that eBay has now instituted a shipping program whereby bidders from outside the U.S. can bid on or buy all sellers' items, and the seller sends everything to an eBay facility in the US for shipping. So far, this seems to be working out well.
