I started coin collecting when I was 12 years old. Most of the coins that I got for my collection, I earned through wages from our family business. It wasn't much, but it was a start. Most of the time, I earned money collecting empty soda bottles.
This 1943 Philadelphia dime was earned by me and was the first Mercury dime I ever collected. Somehow, my brother got ahold of it.
He gave it back to me fifty years later on my birthday with a note that said he was sorry he took my dime a long time ago.
So, now I don't need my "birthday dime" anymore. Although it's a beauty for sure, and it may have a nick or two. This 81 year old silver dime was my first silver Winged Lady I earned. All things must pass, and time for this dime to go.
