Swiss army salt pepper rucksack, later 1950s generation

Rare and sought after, this one I got to study the design and fabric, and cataloging it. I believe it is made from 1950s until the end of 1960s when they changed to a vinyl material. Main fabric is made from a special flax and stinging nettle canvas, giving it the distinct "salt and pepper" color that this pack is known of, although this example has some discoloration from dirt and grime here and there. The secondary material is leather for the bottom, straps and trimmings, which has aged very well and is still in great condition. The hardware, despite some showing age with green patina, does not seem to have too much rust or deterioration that effects the structural integrity.

The pack has a metal frame framed, with a metal external lumbar frame, the lumbar support is a piece of tensioned webbing, which provides a degree of "padding" but most importantly keeps the pack slightly off the back for airflow. There's wear to the fabric covering the internal frame, but does not effect structural integrity. The closing cord for the main compartment has been cut off.

An excellent piece for collecting as well as daily use if you wish. This is a buy for life kind of product if you look to use it, I have looked at a lot of different packs, but not many has this level of quality even considering the age.
