Description:  It is an authentic engraved antique map approximately 165 years old with original hand coloring as issued. It is from J.G. Barbie du Bocage's Atlas Illustre (Paris, Maison Basset, 1842). The date of 1842 is clearly printed in the bottom margin. A copy of the Atlas title page is included for authenticity. The map was designed by Charle as stated in the title block and the publishing and engraver are stated in small print in the bottom margin. It is being sold as a single sheet, not mounted, matted nor framed, basically as seen in the pic, photographed against a dark background so you can see all the edges and actual condition. Overall, a very nice antique map with the classic border that would frame up nicely.
Size: The map image measures approximately 9 by 12 (22x30cm) inches on a 10 1/4 by 13 1/2" (26x34cm) page with a margin all around for matting, as seen in the main pic.
Condition: It is in Good to Very Good condition for its age with very light tonal ageing and darkening around the edges. It is basically as seen in the pic. There is some minor spotting around the edges, otherwise it is very clean with strong original color on a bright page. See the pic of the actual map for a better idea of the actual condition.
