Peter Todd Mitchell was an American painter born in New York City in 1924 and died in Sitges, Spain in 1988. He was known for his abstract and representational urban view painting, as well as his wallpaper design. Mitchell was educated at the Art Students League of New York and the Hans Hofmann School of Fine Arts. He was a Fulbright Scholar in Italy in 1952-1953. Mitchell's work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. He was also a designer for the fashion industry, working with designers such as Norman Norell.
