We're delighted to be offering some interesting mid-century MCM EAMES era original works by listed artist MANNY BLANC. Blanc (1914 - 1984) was a New York City artist recognized for his abstract & expressionistic style, and interesting cityscape subject matter. He was a student of Charles Seide, Brooklyn Museum and exhibited in several Museum shows. Gallery shows included the ARTS Gallery, NYC and NY City Center Gallery. Most are signed; those that aren't come with certificate of authenticity signed by Blanc's daughter.

We've just received a wonderful group of ABSTRACT drawings or paintings signed by Blanc, early 1970's, acrylics or oil with some use of crayon. Some may have been studies for larger oils; each is delightful on it's own and a VERY reasonable say to own an original Manny Blanc. This listing features a pair of TWO paintings with unusual subject matter for Blanc - appears to be "MANDRILL." Both are works on paper that we think will work beautifully when hung together. Clearly from the same "series."

Blanc lived in Brooklyn New York, near the famous Brooklyn Zoo and most probably was inspired by their wonderful MONKEY exhibits!

  • White background drawing is Signed and dated 1973 and in excellent condition.
  • BLUE striking Orangutan has a black "line" in eye area that had some holes & Blanc put a black piece of tape behind. Not sure if done on purpose or as a "fix!" Either way, VERY striking images.

  • Ready for framing!
