Russian artist, Alexander Volkov, combines a lifelong fascination with architecture, landscape and still life subjects. He brings drama and poetic expression into his photorealistic artwork with a unique vision. By combining mood and atmosphere, his art brings forth powerful emotions that create harmony.  It is however the the light in each of them paired with the fine detail and the fact that each one of these places truly exists, that makes each one of these stunning photorealistic paintings true masterpieces.

Volkov is a Russian-American oil painter who was born in St. Petersburg in 1960. He attended a special English school and in 1986 graduated from the Department of Physics at Leningrad State University. During college, Volkov began exhibiting with a group of Leningrad artists known as the “Brotherhood of Experimental Arts” in 1981. This group was a collaboration of underground art groups active in Leningrad during the 80s. Following graduation, Volkov worked as an animator at Leningrad Studio of Science Films and as a stage artist for a small theatre. Taking his varied background and art experience with him, Volkov moved to the US in 1990 and made a life by painting the beauty of America.

While his primary focus is working in Oil, Alexander maintains a small selection of Charcoals, Watercolors and Acrylics and offers an expansive program of Limited Edition and Collector’s Edition Prints on Canvas through Art Leaders Gallery and other select fine art galleries. He is also available for commission.
