This is a Pre-Columbian Terracotta Rattle that I believe to be Olmec Pre-Classic and probably dates between 1,000 - 500 BC. The head is approximately 4 1/2" tall and 3" wide, hand to hand. The rattle still works. There was a label on the rattle at some point which I assume would have detailed its origins but I have been unable to find it. It would be a great addition to any Pre-Columbian collection. PLEASE LOOK CLOSELY AT ALL THE PHOTOS BELOW THE LISTING AS THEY ARE AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE DESCRIPTION.

This piece was part of a large collection I purchased and it was dug or obtained in the 1950's or very early 1960's by a Memphis Dr. while he and his wife were on one of their many expeditions to Central, South America and Mexico.
