This 1873 Antique Art Print is titled ~ COMING FROM THE FORGE ~ . by John S. Davidson. An authentic full page engraving from The Aldine, published in New York.
Depicting two children on horse back unable to cross the bridge as a dog denies passage. The horse seems completely unaffected by the conflict and enjoys a drink of cool water from the stream. The boys are coming home from a trip to the forge. In the distance the blacksmith tends to the horse shoeing Work. A great piece of 19th Century life. This image is a nice example of an antique print being our finest peep hole into the past.
Image size is approx. 9 1/2" x 12 7/8" ~ Page size is approx. 11" x 16". Blank margin not fully shown, plenty of margin for framing. Blank on the back side.
