** ADA CASTOR AND CAMBER **

ADA Castor Camber Gauge is quick and easy to use, it can be used to measure both camber and castor on any car.

Castor Explained

Castor can be understood by imagining a line that runs through the upper ball joint and extends through the lower ball joint. Looking at the side view the imaginary line will tilt forward or backward. The tilting of this imaginary line is defined as castor.

The measurement of Castor is taken in degrees using a castor camber gauge. Positive castor occurs when the top of the line tilts more towards the rear of the car. If the imaginary line tilts forward then you would have negative castor.

Camber Explained

Camber is the tilt of the tyre as viewed from the front of the car. Negative camber is when the top of the tyre leans inwards towards the centre of the car. Positive camber is the opposite, in this instance the bottom of the tyre will point inwards and the top of the tyre will lean away from the centre of the car.

Camber can be measured using a castor camber gauge, adjustments can be made with shims or adjustable upper suspension arms. It is important to always check the toe if you are making camber or castor adjustments.
