OLD PIONEER HISTORY
& OLD WEST MEMORABILIA
IS RAPIDLY DISAPPEARING
Folks, Kit Carson might not be the ultimate authority on Indian Tipi’s but he had been there before and when he spoke, it was with an aire of finality. When he argued that no other tent dwelling could afford the comfort of a tipi, it sure resolved this argument fast cause if he wouldn’t go without a tipi, the deal was off – no Freemont expedition – no nothing. And the author states why in this story of the original mobile home that served the rooming Plains Indians so well. It ‘s all here in this amazing treatise on the creation, composition, building and erection of the American Indian tipi in the story entitled
TIPI: THE INDIAN’S VERSATILE HOUSE
and noted western author Robert Gaddis packs a lot of history in this tale of the moving home of the Indians explaining that the word tipi comes from the Sioux Indian word “ti” meaning to dwell or live, and “pi” meaning used for, thus the word tipi means “used to live in”. There follows a detail explanation of the Indian tipis including description of their construction, values of the poles (four poles were worth one good horse) and so much more. There were many a western story published – the common ones about Cowboys and Indians are listed on Ebay every day but the rarer ones about the actual construction, use, mobility and feasibility of the Indians home on the run in the pioneer west are seldom found. Collectors treasure them and their price guide value rises every day. They are hard to find. I hunt them out because really the better, untold and rarer stories were published in the rest.
Here’s one of ‘em.
Following my retirement, I have dedicated my remaining hours to indexing the Genealogy of our western heroes. During my research, I discovered that thousands of our kinfolk lay unfound and unrecognized on some book dealer’s shelf gathering dust. Because Old Western History and Memorabilia was printed before computer indexing, I index every item I sell.
This complete index will be bound and included in this offering at no additional cost.
Humbly, I am trying to keep our history alive.
I hope you appreciate the effort.

Folks, sooner or later - Genealogists are going to realize that their family kinfolks are laying on some dealer's dusty shelves. If I can contribute to finding one little name or photo of that long lost ancestor you have been waiting to find, it’s worth all the time I spend.

OLD INDIAN HISTORY & MEMORABILIA
IS RAPIDLY DISAPPEARING
While others clip ads from magazines, I save history. It’s a shame that our past is being lost. It’s as simple as that.
What a story, Rare Story!!! Great Pictures. You will love it as it was published in this old complete and seldom found western magazine of many years ago. The issue is in excellent condition, the cover is pristine and in vibrant color.
As clearly stated in my description, this is featured story in a rarely found and seldom read unusual and complete western magazine. I don't give out name of publication or date because I have caught competitors copying my index and work and trying to sell it as theirs. I hope you understand.
