HDCP stands for High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection, a copy protection scheme to eliminate the possibility of intercepting digital data midstream between the source to the display. HDCP compatible products such as DVD players, satellite and cable HDTV set-top-boxes, as well as few entertainment PCs require a secure connection to the compliant display.

DVI-D connector is used to transmit digital signal only between its’ source video (graphics cards) to digital displays (e.g. LCD monitors). Due to the digital transmission format, this provides a faster, higher-quality image compared to analogue signals. Graphics cards initially produce a digital video signal, which is converted into analogue at the VGA output. Using DVI-D connections, this analogue conversion process can be eliminated which improves the data transmission between source and display.

EDID stands for Extended Display Identification Data. It’s a data structure indicating the capabilities of a display that is communicated to a computer graphics source. With three user selectable EDID modes plus EPROM based Firmware, the HDDA12A-UK will overcome many system compatibility problems experienced with other Distribution Amps.

The idea behind such a label is to reassure you, the consumer, that a product that you are purchasing will be capable of meeting the hardware requirements so as to display HD or in the case of 3D Ready, 3D content without requiring any additional hardware or upgrades.

The inbuilt HDMI 1.3 compliant ‘Clear Eye’ technology ensures your source signals arrive at your display in pristine condition. It allows you to use output cables up to 10m without worrying about signal drop-off over your output cable run.

*Note - your DVI socket needs to be HDCP compliant to work with an HDMI signal
