Soviet Medal "Honored Worker of Transportation of Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic", circa 1980s.

This is a 100% ORIGINAL award made at the USSR Mint during the Soviet period, not a recent replica!

The medal was one of the highest awards of the Soviet Armenia, issued annually to just a handful of people. This particular one was for excellent results in transportation industry, which included railway freight and automobile transportation. The medal could be issued to a distinguished driver, dispatcher, manager or engineer with a record of many years of irreproachable work in the industry. There were also similar awards in other categories, all bestowed very sparingly and only for a short time before the collapse of the Soviet Union.

The medal is made in solid brass with gilt finish, lacquer and high quality enamels. The octagon medallion measures 24.9 mm wide. The reverse of the medallion and of the suspension device show raised logo of the Leningrad Mint “LMD”.

The medal is in excellent, near mint condition.
