This is a Sima 100mm f/2 Soft Focus + Macro Lens in great condition. The Sima SF100 uses T-Mount adapters to attach to absolutely any camera on Planet Earth so everyone can join in the beauty of soft focus photography. That’s an advantage! Another advantage is that the Sima SF100 is also capable of macro focusing for up close and personal soft imagery of flowers and a million other natural or man-made photogenic subject matter.
The Sima SF100 is a simple design and is made from a pair of injection moulded plastic tubes that nest together. A plastic single element lens produces the soft images. The diameter of the lens’ tube provides it’s maximum f/2 aperture. Additional aperture control is provided by insertable disks, one of which ships with the lens (f/2.8). You can make additional aperture disks easily using dense, black cardboard that you provide. Aperture opening can be calculated mathematically or you can just ‘eyeball it’. The opening size is not of paramount importance. The disk mounts into a retaining ring that bayonets to the lens front. Manual focus is done by sliding the tubes to extend the length. For fine focusing twisting the front tube provides good incremental movement in either direction. To separate the barrel tubes simply extend the lens to full length, rotate the outer tube while pulling outward. The mechanism is bayoneted together. It’s simple but effective and produces excellent results with a little practice.
