GUNDA AUSTRALIAN STUDIO POTTERY

Presenting an exceptionally appealing example of Australian pottery created
and signed Gunda by the Latvian-born artist, Gundars Zigurts Lusis.

This exquisite piece, produced as a tourist ware souvenir
piece for visitors to Kalorama, has a wonderfully appealing
clean-lined modernist form and superb sgraffito design.

The exterior of this fabulous piece has been glazed in Gunda's
trademark flat matte black glaze. A sensational modernist fish design
has been boldly inscribed into the front surface of the vessel, and beautifully
coloured with glossy glazes which leap from the flat black base. Ascending
air bubbles and a stylishly curved reeds perfectly balance the design.

The tourist destination "Kalorama" is inscribed above the design.

This superb piece is presented in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or repairs.
The flat black glaze, which is renowned for easily chipping, is in exceptional condition with no
losses or wear and the contrasting glossy white interior is clean and stain free. There is one
small nick to the rim which is beneath the glaze and in the manufacture but accuractely
photographed and mentioned for complete accuracy. This piece has been extremely well
cared for and presents spectacularly. An exceptionally fine example in pristine condition.

This impressive Gunda piece stands approx 117mms
tall, measures 110mms in length and 55mms in width.

This piece is beautifully signed and numbered to the base "Gunda 95".
