17" X 12" serving platter.  The pattern is Formosa by Thomas Furnival and Sons.  The company was in business from the mid to late 1870s.  This platter has the distinct Japonism look popular during the Aesthetic period.  There is an Asian latticed border design with the center featuring cherry blossoms, sparrows, a panel of woven bamboo, a panel of growing bamboo, and a fan with an Asian moonlight scene.  The scene is brown transferware, underglaze.

The Furnival back stamp is present as shown.  The piece also has the incised Furnival name.

The platter was used, but not abused by any means.  There is minimal wear as expected.  No cracks.  To be very picky, there are a few glaze pops, but I do believe this is a characteristic of the ironstone glazing.  We are showing many photos of the platter.  Please let us know if you wish more photos.

Nothing detractive and as you can see from the photos, this platter shelves very, very well.  Considering this lovely piece is over 125 years old, it was loved and cherished.
