Mid to late 19th Century Cast Iron 3-Legged Bulge Pot, once used for cooking or heating water on a hearth or campfire. This features a heavy gauge wire bail carrying handle and side tipping ring. Kettle stands 9 5/8 inches tall, measuring 10 3/4 inches in diameter in the center and has an 11 1/2 inch diameter flared rim mouth. It has a 12 quart capacity, filled nearly to the rim. There is a vertical mold seam on opposite sides and a horizontal seam around the bottom. On the underside is a single 6 inch long gate casting mark and a highly embossed size number 9.
   Condition : This is a well cared for family heirloom in excellent condition. There is minor pitting on the bottom of the inside and some very light pitting on the wire. There are no chips, cracks or leaks. This has been thoroughly cleaned down to the bare metal, by electrolysis and baked seasoned with vegetable shortening.
